The History of Wheatley
Saturday 17th November at the Merry Bells 9.30am to 4.30pm
The presentation and associated exhibition will highlight the latest developments at Wheatley Village Archive together with other aspects of the history of Wheatley. The developments include the launch of a brand new website relating to WW1 which will be demonstrated at both 10am and 2.30pm.
The digitisation of much of the support records in order to make them readily accessible via an expanded website to be launched at a later date.
The history exhibition, consisting of 15 display boards will highlight both original and new information about Bell Lane, Crown Road and Square, Farm Close Lane, Wheatley buildings pre 1813, farms, coaching routes, inns and pubs, Post Office history, windmills, Station Road development and the railway. This is a two way -process, please give us your views and correct anything which we have
got wrong.
There will also be information available on the Wheatley Heritage Trail being developed, the activities of the Wheatley Society, the genealogy, the future of Wheatley Village Archive and last but not least, the idea of starting a Wheatley History Society.
